چکیده

The presence of humic substances as a component natural organic matter (NOM) may cause inefficiency towards drinking water treatment processes, especially the membrane fouling during filtration process. Therefore, to enhance efficiency conventional process, several copper doped Fe-N-C bimetallic heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts (Cux@FeNC) were prepared and evaluated by executing their catalytic degradation performance against NOM. Results indicated that acid (HA, 10 mg/L) could be significantly degraded (95%) within 30 min application Cu5p@FeNC-Fenton under neutral pH, which was relatively higher than FeNC-Fenton (70%) identical conditions. macromolecular matters in NOM destroyed more effectively while overall mineralization degree also became higher. Meanwhile, lower UF (PES 20 kDa)/NF (DOW 270) highest flux recovery after backwash observed with treatments. Characterization chemical analysis further explored introduction Cux FeNC responsible for rapid reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation efficient Additionally, possible copper-iron synergetic mechanism system proposed. This work gives deep insight into potential using Cux@FeNC ensures mitigation effective processes.

A Novel Homogeneous Fenton-like System with Fe(III)-Phosphotungstate for Oxidation of Organic Compounds at Neutral pH Values.

Ferric ion (Fe[III]) catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) into strong oxidants such as hydroxyl radical ((•)OH) and ferryl ion (Fe[IV]) through the redox cycling of the iron couple (Fe[II]/Fe[III]). The use of these reactions for the catalytic oxidation of organic compounds is usually limited to the acidic pH region due to the low solubility of Fe(III) and the low efficie...

Template Synthesis of High Surface Area Metal Oxides . Example : An Excellent Structured Fenton - like Catalyst

Standard sacrificial template synthesis allows metal oxide nanotubes to be produced from ZnO nanowires. In spite of their high interest in several technological fields, the low surface area of these nanotubes is a drawback for most applications. Here we report for the first time the sacrificial template synthesis of stainless steel wire-mesh (SSWM) supported metal oxides of high technological i...

The effects of soluble organic matters on membrane fouling index.

This study investigated the effects of soluble organic matters on membrane fouling characteristics, using silt density index (SDI) and modified fouling index (MFI) to evaluate the fouling potential. Experimental results demonstrated that humic acid had significant effects on membrane fouling indexes. When its concentration was in the range of 0.01-0.05 mg/L, the SDI(15) and MFI were 2.9-3.9 and...

Characterization of natural organic matters using flow field-flow fractionation and its implication to membrane fouling

Transport and deposition characteristics of natural organic matter (NOM) are systematically investigated using flow field-flow fractionation (Fl-FFF) at various chemical and physical conditions. Humic acid (HA) was chosen as model organic foulants. Prior to Fl-FFF analysis, HA was fractionated by membranes with different molecular weight cut-offs. To elucidate physicochemical factors affecting ...
